Carly Rae Jepsen @ O2 Academy, Glasgow.

Today’s Advent comes from the very lovely Juli Gagarin. Not only is Juli massively into pop culture (check out her book recommendations on insta), she and I will be a bridesmaid and maid of honour respectively, at my sister’s wedding next October!

Here’s what Juli had to say about her pop culture highlight of the year:

My pick is Carly Rae Jepsen’s sold out Glasgow gig in February, in support of her 2022 album The Loneliest Time. (which came out the same day as Taylor Swift’s Midnights and, sssh, is better – if you only know Jepsen from Call Me Maybe, you’ve been missing out!).

Immaculate vocals paired with a brilliant live band and backing singers, she played an amazing set packed with perfect pop bangers. Jepsen’s joy at performing and the audience’s delight to have her there, made for an incredible atmosphere and a proper party.

Also highly recommended is revisiting her Glastonbury set on iPlayer to catch up with the magic and bring some sunshine pop to a cold winter day.

Thanks so much Juli, I’ll definately be checking that out!
